8 Months Old

Today was Emmeline's 8 month birthday! We took lots of pictures... of course! She has definately changed so so much and keeps getting cuter (as if that were possible)! It reminded me of a terrific song "The Best is Yet to Come" sung by many great artists including Michael Bubble. It is so true, each stage is so special and filled with new adventures. She is getting to be very mobile, and is crawling in a circle and starting to scotch forward. She also loves to go from sitting to tummy (then look up at me with an expression that says... "what just happened?"

The Best Part of My Day!

I love and look forward to the time when Emmeline wakes up from her nap, or in the morning, she always has the BIGGEST smile on her face! Her smile seems to go from ear to ear! I feel so loved, that she is genuinely so so happy to see me. And I feel so priveged to get to be there to see it! It reminds me of when I was walking down the aisle and the excited look on my husbands face to see me, I feel so blessed to have that warm loving look from my sweetheart ever couple hours!

I See You See Me!

Emmeline loves to play with this "top" her Grandma Pam got her for Christmas...
She sits and holds onto it and loves to chew on the handle, and we push the top together and watch the ladybugs and butterflys spin! Everyminute is so much fun!

My Mommy & Me

Today Emmeline & I went to our first Mommy & Me class, it was so much fun. I think she is the youngest one there (and the cutest, I'm really partial :)... we are both really excited to get to know the mommies and babies that are in the class! Plus the teacher is terrific, her name is Mrs. Kim! The class is offered through the adult school system here in the San Fernando Valley!

5 Months Cute

I can't believe it... it seems like only yesterday...

Emmeline is now 5 months old and is doing so much! She has started eating "solid" food, first rice cereal and is now eating oatmeal (she liked that one better) once a day. She has also started scooting a little and is working on rolling over (she did it once, almost!). We are having the best time with her! When we go into her room to get her from her nap she smiles from ear to ear, it is the best feeling ever! Emmeline is also learning how to read with "your baby can read" and is learning baby sign language! She is a busy little girl, who is so loved by us and all of you! We are also very blessed that both of Emmeline's grandma's are so close and come to visit often.
Over Christmas Emmeline was baby Jesus in our church's Back to Bethlehem, and daddy & mommy were Mary & Joseph, below is a clip (just remember we are not actors, as you will be able to tell : ). Emmeline also had a great time with all of her cousins, aunts, and uncles over Christmas! She went bowling and went swimming for the first time in Grandma Pam's & Grandpa Fred's heated saline pool!

Someone came up to me resently and said "Life is good when there is a baby", that is so true!

All My "Diapers" in a Row

Often times when people hear that we cloth diaper Emmeline they are surprised & often look scared for some reason! We have been cloth diapering for about 2 months and I love it... we use the Bumgenius 3.0 One Size Cloth Diapers. They are adjustable and snaps allow them to grow with your baby. People often ask if you have to dunk the diapers in the toilet, and the answer is no, the creaters of these have thought of everything and make them so easy to use, you simply buy a special hose that you attach to your toilet, it acts similar to a shower hose and sprays clean water to remove the muck from the diaper directly into the toilet. You then store the diapers and inserts (a microfiber rectanglular piece that fits into the diaper and does the absorbing) in a well vented storage container until you are ready to wash them.

Here are some of the reasons we choose to cloth diaper:

- Better for the environment
- Better for baby
- Better for the wallet
- You get a better sense of the fluid your baby is taking in (important to monitor if breastfeeding)
- They are super cute and come in fun colors
- They are as easy to use as disposables, with velcro closures.
- I did not want to use a cloth diaper service because the thought of "shared" diapers was not appealing to me.
